The Special Education Unit from the Lundu District Education Office, together with PPD Samarahan, successfully organized a Special Education Knowledge Sharing Session at SK Stoh, Lundu on 6 August 2024.
The session was held with the aim of raising awareness and increasing understanding about the Deaf community, while providing participants with an introduction to the World of the Deaf, Malaysian Sign Language (BIM), and the role of the Sarawak Deaf Community Services Association in supporting and empowering the Deaf community in Sarawak.
The knowledge sharing session provided a meaningful platform for educators and participants to gain greater awareness on Deaf culture, communication accessibility, and the importance of inclusion in education and the wider community. Participants were also introduced to basic Malaysian Sign Language, creating an engaging and interactive learning experience.
The Sarawak Deaf Community Services Association sincerely appreciates the opportunity to be part of this meaningful programme and would like to thank the Special Education Unit of the Lundu District Education Office and PPD Samarahan for their commitment towards promoting awareness, inclusion, and support for the Deaf community. We hope that this collaboration will continue to strengthen understanding and create a more inclusive society for everyone.
